The classes at Whanganui Intermediate School are organised into teaching teams of four classes called clusters. We have a wide range of classes at Whanganui Intermediate School, which cater for different learning styles and needs. We have two excellerated learning classes for those who need to be extended academically, two Māori language classes, and four classes teaching and learning collaboratively in our new Innovative Learning Environment.

Each cluster is lead by a senior staff member and the classes within a cluster often work closely together to plan interesting and exciting classroom programmes to cater for the needs of all their students.

We also have a specialist cluster called i-HUB (Innovation HUB) which comprises of the six specialist classes (Design and Construction, Digital Technology,Culinary Arts, Art and Design, Performing Arts and Science).
