Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)
Our PB4L focus for the next two weeks is the wearing of correct school uniform. By wearing our uniform correctly students display a pride in themselves and their school.
We appreciate the efforts parents make to support this and remind you that you can make lay-by arrangements to pay off uniform items at any time through the school office.
Positive Behaviour for Learning is a Ministry of Education initiative that aims to promote positive behaviour and create inclusive learning environments that foster well-being and achievement for all students.
At Whanganui Intermediate School PB4L is centred around our core values. At Whanganui Intermediate School we value and demonstrate:
Students demonstrating these values are recognised through our rewards system.
Our reward system is to give positive affirmations to students making the right choices. We have a range in which we celebrate students doing well.
Reward Cards (Green Cards)
Students are awarded points for showing:
Points are awarded by teachers completing a reward card. One reward card is worth one point each and is awarded per positive choice.
10 reward cards/points = a postcard sent home informing family/whanau of positive behaviour from that student. If every child in the class receives 10 reward cards/points within a term that class will receive a mufti day.
There will be three different levels within our Reward System shown by three different positive achievement badges.
50 points = Bronze level
150 points = Silver level
250 points = Gold level
Badges will be awarded for each level as it is reached. These will be presented at our weekly assembly and also acknowledged in our School Newsletter. Students will be allowed to wear their badge on either their jersey or shirt.
Reward Events will be held at the end of each term to acknowledge those children who have earned an achievement badge or are currently already at that level.
Weekly Prize Draws
These will be held in Assembly using the tear off portions of the Reward Card. Prizes will vary and also the amount awarded.
