Student Support Centre
Student Support Team
Whanganui Intermediate School has a comprehensive system in place to ensure the school’s expectations with regard to behaviour are met and that early interventions take place. We ensure that parents are kept informed.
It is our belief that students have a right to learn and teachers have a right to teach. We do not allow individual students to interfere with either of these beliefs.
We can provide support through our dedicated Student Support Centre, as we believe students achieve their best academically and socially when they are happy and secure in a caring, supportive environment. Our network involves a full time Student Support Team headed by one of our Deputy Principals Darren Torrie.
The student support teams works with students and classroom teachers to help students manage their behaviour and deal with some of the challenges they face as emerging adolescents. Support is provided both in class time and out in the playground.
