It all started one Monday afternoon when four Whanganui Intermediate School pupils decided to come up with something that was fun and beneficial for the school. As you probably know hiding rocks has become a popular pastime to do around Whanganui this year, so we came up with “W.I.S Rocks”. We selected rocks which have been painted and decorated with the theme of our school values: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
Our rocks have been designed to encourage Year Six students who are looking for an intermediate school next year, to attend our Information Evening and to enrol at our school. The rocks demonstrate what our standards are as well as showing that we have a great learning environment at Whanganui Intermediate.
So far we have gone to the following schools - St John’s Hill, Keith Street, Carlton and Durie Hill but we hope to visit more schools in the future.
If your child comes home with a painted rock with “WIS rocks” marked on the back be sure to attend our open night on the 17th of August to claim some awesome prizes such as scooters and stationery packs. Remember WIS ROCKS!!
Attached is a photo of Bella Jones (left) and Laura Mackintosh (right) painting rocks. Messina Su'a and Ashlea Hale were also in the group.
